Artist talk about DARE/Fabrica, by Andy Cameron
For the past four months, the interactive installation DARE/Fabrica has been accumulating video, images, and drawings by Museum visitors. As envisioned by Andy Cameron, head of Fabrica's interactive media division, and DARE's principle designer,
DARE is complete as an exhibition only when it closes. On October 23, in honor of the completion of DARE, Cameron will discuss the underlying ideas about interactivity, narrative, and creativity that are embodied in the DARE installation.
This hour-long presentation will be followed by a reception. Fabrica is Benetton's communications and design research center in Treviso, Italy.

DJ Spooky Performance, Rebirth of a Nation, followed by a discussion
7:30 p.m.
DJ, theorist, and writer Paul Miller, a/k/a DJ Spooky, That Subliminal
Kid, will present a prototype of his planned live, radical remix of
DW Griffith's controversial and landmark film, Birth of A Nation.
In Miller's hands, the film is transformed into a meditation on how
"myths migrate through the culture's operating system." Miller says,
"remixing this influential film the way a DJ would change a pop tune,
I am trying to uncover the blueprints of the future we now inhabit."
This one-hour performance will be followed by a discussion with the
artist.
Tickets: $15 public, $10 members
Tickets are available for purchase by calling the Museum at 718-784-4520.

of the carefully choreographed ringing of the audience's cell phones.
