EXHIBITION
The Coen Brothers Go West: Costume Design for The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

November 16–May 26, 2019
Museum of the Moving Image

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, the new film from Joel and Ethan Coen, features an ensemble cast including Tom Waits, Tim Blake Nelson, Liam Neeson, Tyne Daly, Bill Heck, and Zoe Kazan. In this six-part western anthology film, each chapter tells a distinct story about the American West. The Museum's exhibition highlights the work of costume designer Mary Zophres and will feature sixteen costumes from the film, ten costume boards created by Zophres, and several hair pieces made by the production’s hair designer Cydney Cornell, presented alongside clips from each of the stories in the film.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is currently having an exclusive limited theatrical engagement in select cities and will be released globally on Netflix on November 16 with an expanded theatrical release.
